WHICH WAX SHOULD I USE?????
Lycon takes the guesswork out for you!!!!
There are three different Lycon waxing methods: Hard Waxing, Lycojet-ing and Strip Waxing.
LYCON HARD WAXES
There are 6 different waxes in this category: Aloe Vera, Azulene Wax; Rosette Pastel Wax; ; So Yummy Chocolate Wax; So Berry; and new Manifico (Specially for Men)
Lycon hard waxes are a low temperature formula, they remove hair as short as 1mm, they are very pliable and painless for most.
All Hard Waxes have the same formula with the exception of Rosette - In addition to the aromatherapy ingredients, Rosette also contains titanium dioxide which makes it more creamy and more gentle and soothing on sensitive areas.
All Lycon Hard Waxes can be re-applied 2 to 3 times to remove stubborn difficult hair without causing irritation.
LYCON LYCOJET WAXES:
There are two lycojet waxes - lavender and desert rose. They are similar to hard waxes except they are designed to be applied more thinly - 1/3 of the thickness which makes them more economical. They will remove hair as short as 1mm and can be reapplied several times without trauma to the skin.
LYCON STRIP WAXES:
This group consists of the following waxes: Aloe Vera; Azulene; So Berry; Active Gold; Rosette; So Yummy; White Elastowax and manifico.
Strip waxes are used SUPER THINLY, they remove short hair and do not leave a sticky residue. They also do not leave strings of wax behind.
Active Gold contains gold mica and rosette contains titanium dioxide. They can all be re-applied 2 to 3 times.
SO - WHICH WAX SHOULD I CHOOSE?
LEGS and ARMS
We recommend any strip wax if hair is long enough.
If hair is short and brittle, we recommend a lycojet wax.
BIKINI and BRAZILLIANS
We recommend our hard waxes especially rosette - These waxes are most gentle for sensitive areas and leave a cleaner and neater finish.
EYEBROWS, LIPS and FACES
All hot waxes can be used but the lycojet waxes are exceptional for these areas as is the Rosette Hard Wax.
BACKS, CHESTS and NECKS
Any Lycon Hard Wax or Lycojet Waxes.
Strip waxes are more difficult on these areas because they are more painful and will not remove hair as well. When the back or the chest is being waxed, clients often perspire and this prevents the strip wax from gripping hair well. Lycon Hard Waxes are much easier, less painful and more efficient in these areas.
REMEMBER:
For the best results it is important to use the specified Lycon Pre and Post Waxing products.
Always use Lycotane Skin Cleanser before you wax to remove all oils, perspiration and makeup. Use AFTER treatment to cleanse and refresh the skin and to close the hair follicle and prevent ingrown hairs.
Use Pre-Waxing Oil before Hard Waxing and Lycojet-ing.
After treatment, choose either soothing cream, tea tree soothe or Perfect Finish. To remove any excess wax - use Tea Tree Perfect.
WHAT CAN GO WRONG!
Bruising - Can occur for several reasons - skin is not held taut enough, wax has not been removed at the right angle, strips have not been pulled off quickly enough.
Skin Peeling - Skin has too much moisture from hot humid weather. Ask client to arrive early and sit in air conditioned room so skin can dry out. A fine dusting of talc will also help.
Burns - Important to check the temperature of the wax on the back of your hand first before you apply to client. If you accidentally burn the skin, let client know. Make sure they wear a sunblock and stay out of sun until healing occurs.
Hives and Itching - Usually an allergic reaction to the wax. Apply ice packs or cold milk. Suggest client take a cold shower.
Pustules - May occur on upper lip. Apply cold compress - do not apply cream after waxing. Lycotane usually prevents this from happening - usually lessens with waxing.
Folliculitis - This is rare but can happen if follicles become inflamed after waxing. Lycotane usually prevents this - often this is caused from creams previously used.
Ingrown Hairs - Use ingrown X-it before waxing to prevent this. Can also be used after waxing. (Other products that can be used are bikini saver or hovans gold and tend skin.
| Why is
Lycon Wax recognized as painless wax? Prior to using Lycon Hot Wax, Pre-Waxing Oil is applied to the area and acts as a barrier between the skin and the wax. Therefore, the wax is able to shrink-wrap tightly around the hair and not stick to the skin, reducing client discomfort.

How do I heat the hot and strip
waxes? Lycon Hot Waxes and Lycojet Waxes are packaged in 1kg/35oz blocks. To break up a block, place into a freezer bag and seal. Next, simply drop the block on a hard surface or hit with a mallet. The block will break into small pieces and can then be stored in the freezer bag or in an appealing glass jar, as shown in this brochure. Lycon Strip Waxes are packaged in 550g/18oz plastic containers. The containers can be warmed in the microwave and then poured into our Wax Heater Inserts. Or place the Strip Wax container directly into the Lycomini Wax Heater.

What is the difference
between Lycon Hot Wax and Lycojet Wax? Both Lycon Hot Waxes and Lycojet Waxes are very gentle and can remove hair as short as 1mm. Lycojet Waxes are applied at 1/3 the thickness of Lycon Hot Waxes. Therefore, less wax is used per treatment, making Lycojet a more economical alternative for hot waxing.
|
What temperature should I
use for the Hot and Strip Waxes? All wax warmers heat differently, so it is best to warm the wax based on consistency versus temperature. As a general guideline, initially heat the Hot and Lycojet Waxes to 212oF and then turn down to 131' F for constant heating. Maintain strip waxes at 174'F. The consistency should be like thin honey.
|
What is the best technique
to use Lycon Strip Wax? The Lycon Strip Wax application is very thin. Holding the Metal Spatula or disposable spatula of your choice at a 90 degree angle to the body, spread wax as thinly as possible using reasonable pressure in the direction of hair growth. It is important to spread the wax very thinly and evenly. Place a Gentle Waxing Strip at a slight angle on the wax, rub firmly, and remove briskly against the direction of hair growth. Soothe with your choice of Lycon Post-Wax Products.
|
Why is the Hot Wax breaking when I apply it? Incorrect application is typically the cause for breaking. Follow these instructions for Lycon Hot Waxes and Lycojet Waxes. After cleansing the skin with Lycotane Skin Cleanser, massage a light application of Pre-Waxing Oil to the area. While holding the skin taut, firmly apply hot wax with and against the direction of hair growth using a wooden spatula. Using firm pressure will create smooth and even edges. Make long oval shapes no thicker than the width of 3 fingers. When the wax is still pliable but no longer tacky, remove with a flexible wrist using a strong, confident pull.
